Privacy Policy

The short version: CreatorHat has no account system and no server. Your saved research, local video transcripts, and generated writing stay on your Mac. The extension contacts YouTube directly to do its job.
What CreatorHat reads
YouTube pages. When you use CreatorHat on youtube.com or studio.youtube.com, the extension reads information already present in those pages. That can include video titles, descriptions, tags, view counts, publish dates, channel information, search results, transcripts, and the contents of YouTube Studio fields you are editing. CreatorHat uses this information to calculate stats and show tools inside YouTube.
Local video files. If you choose a folder in the CreatorHat Mac app, CreatorHat stores a security-scoped bookmark that lets it read video files in that folder. During a YouTube Studio upload, it can match the filename shown by YouTube to a file in that folder and transcribe the video's audio. CreatorHat cannot browse folders you have not selected.
What stays on your Mac
CreatorHat stores its settings and saved work in Safari extension storage or the app's sandbox. This can include keyword history, rank checks, watched channels, saved ideas, folder permissions, local transcript progress, and generated text.
Transcription uses Apple's speech frameworks on your Mac. Writing suggestions use Apple's on-device Foundation Models. CreatorHat does not send your video, transcript, prompts, or generated text to a CreatorHat server.
Network requests
YouTube. CreatorHat requests data directly from YouTube and YouTube Studio from your browser. It uses information and endpoints that YouTube's own pages expose for search suggestions, video details, channel details, transcripts, and related features. Google or YouTube may log those requests under their own privacy policies, just as they log ordinary visits to YouTube.
CreatorHat servers. There are none. CreatorHat does not proxy YouTube requests, sync your work through our infrastructure, or operate an account database.
What we collect
App analytics. The CreatorHat app and extension contain no analytics or tracking.
Website analytics. creatorhat.com uses Clicky to understand visits and improve the site. Clicky receives the pages and links you view, referrer, browser and device information, screen size, language, mouse coordinates, and an anonymized IP address. Clicky's default visitor privacy settings do not use tracking cookies. The site also loads font files from Google Fonts, so Google receives the ordinary request information needed to serve those files, such as your IP address and browser headers.
Purchase information. If you download or purchase CreatorHat through Apple, Apple handles the transaction. Apple does not give us your payment details. See Apple's privacy policy.
Crash reports. If you have chosen to share crash reports with developers in macOS, Apple may send us a crash log. Apple controls what is included and how it is anonymized.
Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it to reply to you.
