Terms of Service

Last updated August 12, 2026

By downloading or using CreatorHat, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use CreatorHat.

What CreatorHat is

CreatorHat is a macOS app and Safari extension that adds statistics, research, and writing tools to YouTube and YouTube Studio. It reads information available in YouTube pages, saves research locally, and can use Apple's on-device models to transcribe video and generate writing suggestions.

CreatorHat is made by Nate Kontny. It is not made by, affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by YouTube, Google, or Apple.

License

CreatorHat is licensed, not sold. Subject to these terms and any purchase terms shown by Apple, you receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use CreatorHat on Apple devices you own or control. You may not redistribute, resell, copy, modify, or reverse-engineer CreatorHat except where applicable law expressly allows it.

Payment and App Store terms

Apple handles downloads, purchases, subscriptions, trials, cancellations, and refunds offered through the Mac App Store or TestFlight. The price and billing period shown by Apple when you complete a transaction control. Apple's media services terms also apply to your download and use of CreatorHat.

YouTube and other third-party services

CreatorHat works by reading YouTube pages and requesting data from YouTube. You are responsible for following YouTube's terms, community guidelines, copyright rules, and any laws that apply to your videos and channel.

YouTube can change its pages, data, or access rules at any time. CreatorHat may stop working in whole or in part after one of those changes. We will do our best to fix breakage, but we cannot guarantee continued access to any YouTube feature or data.

Your videos and content

You keep every right you already have in your videos, transcripts, channel information, and writing. These terms do not transfer ownership of your content to us.

If you give CreatorHat access to a folder, you are responsible for choosing a folder you are allowed to use and for protecting the files inside it. CreatorHat only uses that access to provide its local file and transcription features.

Generated suggestions

CreatorHat can generate titles, descriptions, tags, chapters, outlines, and other suggestions. Those suggestions can be incomplete, inaccurate, repetitive, or unsuitable for your audience. Review anything CreatorHat generates before publishing it. You are responsible for the final content you upload to YouTube and for any decisions you make from CreatorHat's scores or recommendations.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use CreatorHat to:

Availability and updates

We may change, update, or stop offering CreatorHat. Some features require a compatible Mac, a supported version of macOS and Safari, Apple Intelligence, access to YouTube, or permissions you choose to grant. We do not guarantee that every feature will remain available on every device or macOS version.

No warranty

CreatorHat is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that CreatorHat will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, secure, or compatible with future changes to YouTube, Safari, macOS, or Apple's on-device models.

Limits on liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nate Kontny will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from CreatorHat. This includes lost revenue, lost audience, lost data, account action by a third party, or decisions based on generated suggestions or metrics.

Total liability for any claim related to CreatorHat is limited to the amount you paid for CreatorHat during the 12 months before the claim.

Termination

You can stop using CreatorHat at any time by disabling the extension and uninstalling the app. Your license ends if you materially violate these terms.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top of the page will change. Continued use after updated terms take effect means you accept the updated terms.
